March 10th – March 17th
This week, I spent all of Saturday and Sunday with my mom driving around Tennessee and exploring the outdoors. On Saturday, we actually had a set place we wanted to go, however we couldn’t find it. The place we wanted to go to was called Fort Dickerson Quarry but we only found and went to Fort Dickerson Park, a civil war sight with gorgeous views. After taking some pictures there and seeing all of the civil war monuments, we left and drove around for about two hours, trying to find a park to eat the lunch we had packed earlier.
After enjoying simply driving around Knox County, I looked up a park called Louisville Point Park, which is a park in Blount County. We drove there and found a picnic table right by the water and enjoyed our little picnic. Sitting by the water and listening to the water crash on the rocks was so relaxing, and it reminded me a lot of the beach back home in Florida. My mom and I had a great time at this park and spent almost an hour talking and spending time with each other
What made today (Sunday, March 17th) so awesome was the fact that I drove my mom around to the places we went. For our second girls day, I first drove us to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and then to Downtown Knoxville. It was my first time driving on an interstate and I actually didn’t do horrible, though it was really nerve racking. I parked us right in the middle of Market Square and we got out and started exploring. We’ve been to Market Square before, but we specifically went there today for ice cream at ‘Cruze Farm Ice Cream’. Then, we window shopped at a few stores, getting popcorn in one of them, and left to go by the Tennessee River. I drove to a restaurant called Calhoun’s by the water and we took a few pictures and videos there.
I’m so glad I was able to spend the past two days with just my mom. We haven’t had a lot of time with each other since I’m always so busy with my school work, so these two days were much needed. My favorite part of this weekend was definitely going to Louisville Point Park. The pictures we took and the conversations we had were both amazing. Since it’s now Spring break, I wish I could say I’m going to a ton of places over the week. However, I’ll be writing a few papers for school before I’ll be able to go out again. Hopefully I can finish everything before next Saturday and Sunday so I can have that time to see more of Tennessee.
