March 24th – March 31st
For the past few days, I’ve been researching a place in Townsend, Tennessee called the Tuckaleechee Caverns. It’s near the Great Smokey Mountains (about an hour away from where I live) and is estimated to be between 20 to 30 million years old. Upon my research, I’ve learned the set of caverns was opened up to the public by Bill Vananda and Harry Meyers in 1953. Since then, tourists have been able to tour the caves and see a 210 foot underground waterfall called the “Silver Falls”.

My mom and I were planning to pay the $18 ticket fee and go on the 30th, however neither of us woke up in the morning in time to leave and get home before 5 (we were going to dinner early that evening). Out trip to Townsend will have to wait until another time because I’m crossing my fingers that the whole family will be able to go to Clingman’s Dome next Saturday.
