Week 12

April 21st – April 28th

From the start of my 20% project, it was my goal to be done traveling and filming places by the beginning of May so I could have the last three weeks to edit, organize, and produce my cinematic travel vlog. It is now the end of April and I don’t have any set in stone plans to visit any more locations with my family; however, if the opportunity presents itself, I may venture to one more place in time to include it in the video. For now, my focus has turned to perfecting my editing skills.

I’ve been editing pictures and videos for years, so I am well aware of how to use and navigate iMovie. What my focus was this week was separating the videos I knew I wanted to include in the video with the videos I can include if I have extra screen time. I currently have over 180 videos on my phone, ranging from one second clips of mountains to ten second pans of quarries. All of the videos were taken in the last two-three months.

I plan to purchase a song on iTunes soon that will be in the background of my vlog. It is an upbeat song that will go perfectly with all of the bright and colorful places I visited. The song is almost 4 minutes long, meaning I will have to cut, edit, and put together a travel vlog using 180+ videos in that tine slot. I’m worried I’ll have a lot more footage that I won’t be able to include for time reasons, so I know I will have to think hard about what overall look I want my video to have.

Hopefully by next week I will have some of the video edited, but it could potentially take longer if my family and I decide to travel one more place in the next two weeks.
