Week 4

February 17th – February 24th

This week, I didn’t venture out a whole lot because the whole family was busy, but the one thing we were able to do as a family was go to the Winter Jam in downtown Knoxville on the 22nd. It was my first concert I’ve ever been to and I had so much fun. My mom, my grandma, and I saw Newsboys United, Newsong, Mandisa, and a few other amazing Christian artists and bands perform. I can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life. My phone died pretty early into the concert, but I was able to take a few good clips of Mandisa performing, which I plan to include in my travel vlog.

To make up for my lack of going out this week, I decided to play around with editing a few days ago. I experimented with Filmmaker Pro (the editing app I am using) and just put a few clips together to get a feel of how I wanted my final product to be edited. I decided that I would be putting a slight color filter on it to make everything a bit brighter, and change the frame rate from the standard 16:9 to 2.45:1 , which crops the top and bottom of the video and gives it a more cinematic feel. I learned all of this fairly quickly by watching a couple YouTube videos on how to edit cinematic travel vlogs. I also invested my time by watching a video called “How to Make iPhone Travel Videos: Cinematic Tips + Tools” made by Thomas Alex Norman. This video helped me immensely and I can’t wait to use his tips for future filming.

I’m hoping next week my family and I will be able to drive a few hours to see some really cool outdoor places, but it all depends on everyone’s schedule!
